In 1996 I met Ron Winters an Archeologist and Master Goldsmith in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
After an informal apprenticeship in techniques of metalsmithing, I have to admit I became
obsessed. I'd found my vehicle for expression.
I produce a line of minimalist sterling silver and 18k gold jewelry that is handcrafted
using traditional metalsmithing techniques. The designs incorporate fabricated and cast
elements, pearls and diamonds into understated, wearable pieces.
I am inspired by nature. A very curious child, I spent endless hours outside my parent's
home in the woods and gardens exploring and discovering. Later this curiosity led me
as far as the pristine Equatorial Rainforest of Gabon (as Peace Corps Volunteer) to the
stark desert of New Mexico (as an Indian Pueblo Youth Worker) and finally back to the
seasons of Maryland. There experiences reinforced and diversified my sensitivity to the
natural world and inspire the shape, line, form and function I incorporate into my designs.
